One Year Later: Australia’s 2033 Vision Grows from Roundtable to Movement

One year ago, Christian leaders from across Australia gathered in Brisbane for what many described as a “Kairos moment” for the Australian Church—a historic Evangelism Roundtable that brought together leaders representing around 80% of churchgoing Australians to discuss how to adopt the 2033 vision for their nation.

What emerged was the beginning of an ongoing national movement now known as Reaching Australia 2033—a united commitment to work together so that every Australian would have the opportunity to encounter the Good News of Jesus by Pentecost 2033.

Now, less than a year later, the movement continues to grow in unity, clarity, and collaboration.

According to the Reaching Australia 2033 team, the initiative is not intended to function as a new denomination, congregation, or centralized organization. Instead, it describes itself as a “network of networks” focused on mobilizing believers, churches, ministries, and denominations around shared Great Commission goals.

The vision remains centered on “every-believer evangelism”—the conviction that reaching Australia will require ordinary Christians across every stream of the Church actively sharing the gospel in their everyday lives.

Out of the original roundtable gathering came a remarkable level of agreement among leaders from Catholic, Anglican, Evangelical, Pentecostal, Baptist, and other traditions. Over the following months, leaders worked through twenty-one drafts of a shared statement before arriving at unanimous agreement around common gospel affirmations and strategic commitments.

The movement’s shared commitments include:

  • working toward the goal of every Australian hearing the gospel by Pentecost 2033,
  • dedicating the season between Easter and Pentecost each year to focused prayer and evangelism,
  • mobilizing believers to pray intentionally for five people who need Jesus,
  • and equipping ordinary church members to become active witnesses for Christ.

Perhaps most significantly, the movement continues to emphasize unity in mission rather than institutional control or denominational competition.

“Our role is to serve as strategic facilitators,” the Reaching Australia 2033 team explains, “to help release every-believer evangelism in every church around Australia.”

That collaborative spirit is continuing to expand into new initiatives across the nation.

One recent example was the release of the Australian Christian Freedom Index 2025, a major collaborative project involving Christian ministries, legal experts, advocacy groups, and church leaders from across Australia.

According to leader Kym Farnik, organizations including Canberra Declaration, Australian Christian Lobby, Australian Family Coalition, Human Rights Law Alliance, CitizenGO, Family Voice, and multiple constitutional lawyers worked together over several months to produce the report and present it to members of Australia’s federal Parliament.

More than 10,800 Christians participated in the survey connected to the report, sharing experiences related to conscience, workplace pressures, public faith, and religious freedom. The project itself became another example of growing collaboration across the Australian Church.

At the same time, prayer and evangelism initiatives connected to the vision continue to multiply. National prayer campaigns, Pentecost-focused gatherings, evangelism activations, and local church collaborations are increasingly aligning around the shared goal of reaching Australia with the gospel by 2033.

The heart behind the movement remains simple but ambitious: that churches across Australia would move from isolated efforts toward coordinated gospel witness—working together in humility, prayer, and unity so that every person has the opportunity to hear and respond to the love of Jesus.

What began as a historic roundtable is steadily becoming an ongoing national expression of collaboration around the Great Commission. Across Australia, more leaders, churches, ministries, and believers continue joining the vision.
