Mobilize Your Church to Pray for the Jewish World This September
From September 11–21, millions of Christians around the world will unite for 10 Days of Prayer, culminating on September 21 with the Global Day of Prayer for the Jewish World.
For pastors and church leaders, this is a practical opportunity to help your congregation participate in the Great Commission through one of its most essential—and accessible—actions: prayer.

Joining a Global Movement of Prayer
The September prayer emphasis is part of the five Global Days of Prayer hosted throughout the year by the Finishing the Task Breakthrough Prayer Coalition, alongside partners including 110Cities, WorldPrays, and International Prayer Connect.
Together, believers around the world are mobilizing focused prayer for people from major religious traditions and for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. These united prayer efforts reflect Finishing the Task’s Breakthrough Prayer goal: mobilizing every believer to pray for people who do not yet know Jesus.
This September, that focus turns toward Jewish people in Israel and throughout the diaspora.
Approximately 15 million Jewish people live around the world, including about 6 million in Israel. Many have yet to hear or understand the Good News of Jesus in a way that resonates with them. The 10 Days prayer initiative invites Christians to intercede for Jewish people while pursuing deeper unity, repentance, holiness, God’s Kingdom. and the harvest.

10 Days to Pursue God Together
The theme for the 2026 10 Days of Prayer is “Pursue,” inspired by Paul’s words in Philippians 3:13–14: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal.”
Beginning September 11, the prayer guide leads believers through a different focus each day, including humility and love, holiness, unity, reconciliation, God’s Kingdom, discernment, God’s presence, the harvest, God’s promises, and the return of Christ. Throughout the 10 days, participants are also encouraged to pray for Israel and Jewish people around the world.
The initiative culminates on September 21, Yom Kippur, with a 24-hour Global Day of Prayer. Christians around the world will pray for the peace of Jerusalem, for Jewish people, and for the Gospel to reach the ends of the earth.

Pastors: Here Are Five Ways Your Church Can Participate
You don’t need to create a new prayer program to engage your congregation. The resources are already available, and participation can be as simple or as comprehensive as fits your church.
1. Put the 10 Days prayer guide in the hands of your congregation.
Invite members to pray through the guide individually or as families from September 11–21. The guide is available online and in multiple languages, with additional resources designed specifically for children. A YouVersion Bible App version is also planned in multiple languages.
2. Build the prayer focus into your existing ministries.
Ask small groups, Sunday school classes, staff teams, youth ministries and prayer groups to devote part of their regular gathering to that day’s prayer emphasis. Participation doesn’t require adding another event to the church calendar.
3. Gather your church to pray.
Churches are encouraged to gather groups of any size and spend at least an hour each day in prayer, worship and repentance during the 10 Days. Consider opening your sanctuary for prayer, organizing an evening gathering or partnering with other churches in your community.
4. Teach your congregation why we pray for the Jewish world.
Use a Sunday service, pastoral email or church communications to help members understand the biblical and Great Commission significance of praying for Jewish people. Encourage prayer for spiritual awakening, reconciliation and healing from historical wounds, and for Jewish people to encounter Jesus as Messiah.
5. Join the Global Day of Prayer on September 21.
Set aside time during Yom Kippur for your congregation to join believers worldwide in 24 hours of prayer, worship and testimonies. Even if your church participates for only a portion of the day, your congregation can know it is praying alongside brothers and sisters across nations and denominations.

Prayer Is Part of Finishing the Task
Jesus told his disciples, “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field” (Matthew 9:38).
Before we go, we pray.
As we work toward seeing everyone, everywhere have access to the Good News by 2033, Breakthrough Prayer reminds us that fulfilling the Great Commission ultimately depends on the power and work of God.
This September, pastors have an opportunity to help their churches see themselves as part of something much bigger than a single congregation: the global Body of Christ praying together for people who need to know Jesus.
