Hope for One Billion Souls: Global Day of Prayer for the Hindu World

On October 20, 2025, believers around the world will gather for the Global Day of Prayer for the Hindu World—a time set apart to lift up more than one billion people who have yet to experience the hope of Christ. This special day is one of the Four Global Days of Prayer led by the FTT Breakthrough Prayer Coalition which includes 110Cities and International Prayer Connect. Together, we are asking God to move powerfully among Hindu peoples, opening hearts and minds to His love.

Why pray for Hindus? Why Now?

Right now, over 1.2 billion people around the world identify as Hindu — making it one of the largest unreached religious groups on the planet. During Diwali, the “Festival of Lights,” millions search for meaning, hope, and true light in the midst of cultural and spiritual traditions. This season presents a unique moment for the Church to lift our voices in prayer, asking God to reveal Himself to hearts that are longing for Him. As followers of Jesus, we believe prayer changes realities, opens doors, and breaks spiritual strongholds. That’s why this Global Day of Prayer is not just another date on the calendar — it’s a chance to unite as one Body, interceding for breakthrough and believing that God’s light will shine into the Hindu world like never before.

As part of the FTT global prayer rhythm, this Hindu Day of Prayer is one of four annual days of prayer, alongside Pentecost (Jewish world), Chinese New Year (Buddhist world), and One Miracle Night (Muslim world).

This Year’s Focus

  • The 15-Day prayer window (12–26 October 2025) intentionally overlaps Diwali and provides context, insight, and city-level prayer points leading into the Global Day.
  • The Global Day of Prayer is scheduled for October 20, 2025, uniting believers worldwide in concerted intercession for Hindus. Join the prayer online here.
  • As in past years, the prayer guide is translated into more than 30 languages, containing testimonies, strategic city profiles, cultural insights, and daily prayer prompts.
  • A children’s prayer guide is also available, designed for young intercessors (ages 6–12), helping families and churches mobilize their children in this global movement.

How Churches & Prayer Groups Can Prepare

1. Use the Prayer Guide in the Days Leading Up
We encourage churches to integrate the Hindu World Prayer Guide into their worship gatherings, small groups, and prayer times in the lead-up to 20 October. This could look like:

  • A daily or weekly section read in Sunday services or midweek prayer meetings
  • Assigning a “city of the day” or “people group of the day” for intercession in small groups
  • Distributing the children’s guide to families with kids, and praying through it together
  • Encouraging personal devotion times using the guide
  • Hosting a short teaching or orientation on Hindu culture, beliefs, and barriers to the gospel (so intercession is informed)

2. Promote Prayer Commitment Across Your Congregation

  • Ask individuals or households to commit to a specific hour or block of prayer on October 20th
  • Offer “prayer slots” (e.g. in a prayer room, or virtually) so people can sign up
  • Provide the prayer guide in your bulletin, newsletter, or church app

3. Join the Global Prayer Network

  • Encourage your people to connect online, pray with other believers globally
  • Pray especially for the 110 strategic cities and Hindu-majority regions
  • Track and share testimonies that emerge in response to these prayers
