"Go Into All the World"
A Worship Song Born Out of a Heart for the Great Commission

We love seeing how everyday believers around the world are taking the Great Commission seriously—living out the call to finish the task in their homes, churches, and unique spheres of influence. A recent example comes from Northern Ireland, where songwriter and worship leader Dave Whitcroft and songwriter Johan Glidden have written a new worship song, “Go Into All the World,” as a fresh way to help churches sing and respond to Jesus’ call.

Dave serves as an elder overseeing worship at Orangefield Presbyterian Church in Belfast and directs worship for the Presbyterian Church in Ireland’s General Assembly each June. Through KDMusic—a collaboration with musician friends from across Northern Ireland—Dave has been shaping worship for decades, writing songs forged in the joys and sorrows of ordinary life. His own story is marked by deep faith in hard seasons, from caring for parents with brain injuries to ministering to youth in North Belfast during “The Troubles.” As he puts it, “Whatever we’re going through, there’s a song for that moment—and nothing beats singing it as one shared voice.”

A Song Born in a Commissioning Service

Dave wrote “Go Into All the World” for a Sunday evening service commissioning young adults from his church—including his eldest son, who was preparing to serve as a tentmaking missionary in a risky part of the world.

“I didn’t want him to go,” Dave shared, “but I was so proud he wanted to share the Good News. It was special to sing the song over them—with a tear in my eye and immense gladness.”

Rooted almost word-for-word in Jesus’ Great Commission from Matthew 28 and Mark 16, the song captures both the call and the promise: Jesus sends us—and assures us of His authority and presence. “I will be with you forevermore.”

A Clarion Call for the Church

Dave first felt prompted to share the song after hearing Pastor Rick Warren talk with Carey Nieuwhof about the upcoming 2033 anniversary of Jesus’ passion, resurrection, and Great Commission. The song echoes the heartbeat of that mission: going to all the world and every nation in Jesus’ name.

The beauty is that these words aren’t sung to God—they’re sung as God’s words to us and to one another. Congregations across Belfast have already found it powerful, especially for commissioning services, mission teams, student gatherings, and summer camps.

Dave hopes it will simply be “useful as both a clarion call and assurance for the Great Commission”—a worship tool that strengthens believers as they go.

A Song for Finishing the Task

Jesus spoke His final words before ascending to heaven—words we often remember during Ascension and Pentecost in May and June:

Go. Make disciples. All nations. I am with you.

We pray that “Go Into All the World” will inspire churches, mission teams, and everyday believers to step with confidence into the calling Jesus gave us. As Dave says, “Nothing beats singing His words together as one shared voice.”Get the Worship Leader Pack for “Go Into All the World” here.
