On February 28, 2025, millions around the world gathered for Gather25, a monumental 25-hour event that connected Christians across the globe in a shared mission of faith.
With an estimated 7 million people from 225 countries and territories joining in person, online, and through livestreams, the event highlighted the power of unity and the global Church.
Real-Time Impact
Thanks to real-time translation in 87 languages, the gospel reached beyond language barriers, allowing people from all corners of the world to hear and experience the message. Over 21,000 Gather Groups came together, from churches to homes and even outdoor venues, like the 5,000-strong gathering in Cebu City, Philippines. In the U.S., 117,000 prison inmates participated through the PandoApp from God Behind Bars, bringing the event’s message of hope and encouragement to those who might otherwise have been left out.
And as a beautiful testament to the global reach of this event, participants even received a message of encouragement from Antarctica, where Christians in scientific bases gathered in the Chapel of the Snows. The unity was undeniable, and it was clear: God’s mission knows no borders.
A Call to Purpose
Pastor Rick Warren’s message on Finishing the Task during the event spoke directly to the hearts of those gathered:
“You were made for so much more. The best use of your life is to invest it in that which will outlast it.”
He challenged attendees to live with purpose, echoing Jesus’s call to proclaim the good news, equip believers, alleviate suffering, continue in prayer, and establish new churches. As Pastor Warren pointed out, Jesus modeled a life of purpose, and the Great Commission is a task that still beckons today.
With the 2,000th birthday of the church approaching in 2033, Pastor Rick’s call to finish the task of the Great Commission resonated strongly. He urged everyone to become Great Commission allies, living out their faith with intention and impact.
Gather25 became more than just an event – it was a part of the growing movement of global unity, outreach, and purpose as we strive together to reach the world. As believers, we are all called to be part of this generation that will complete the mission Christ entrusted to us.
